Youth Voice working group
City of Kingston’s Youth Voice working group provides a platform for young people to share their experiences, ideas and views to influence projects, policies and actions to drive positive change within Kingston’s local community.
Young people hold unique and valuable insights, knowledge and skills that can contribute to the design, implementation and evaluation of services, policies, programs and spaces, impacting the local community.
The voices of young people are often underrepresented in local planning or consideration. Kingston Youth Services is committed to providing young people opportunities to have a say, share their experiences, influence their community and develop local meaningful connections.
Why join the Youth Voice working group?
Youth Voice provides a fantastic opportunities to:
- Make a real difference. Heard are your ideas by decision-makers. This will directly influence policies that impact young people in Kingston.
- Develop leadership and advocacy skills. Through meeting participation, you will gain experience in public speaking, collaboration, and advocacy.
- Learn about local government. Gain firsthand knowledge of how local government works. Learn about the youth services available in Kingston and surrounding areas.
- Collaborate with other young leaders. Connect with young people who share your desire to make Kingston a better place for young people.
Eligibility
To be eligible to join our Youth Voice working group, you must be:
- be between the ages of 12 and 25
- connected to the City of Kingston (live, work, study)
- committed to attending monthly meetings.
