On Sunday 1 February, Kingston Youth Services proudly joined thousands of community members at the annual Midsumma Pride March.

The weather was much milder than previous years, treating us to a slight summer breeze instead of blazing heat. Leading the group were the young members from our Queer in Kingston and Pride Connect social groups, marching alongside Youth Services staff, family and friends.

For some young people and staff, it was their first time participating in a Pride March, and the experience was met with excitement and joy. The energy from the day has already sparked plans to include even more glitter, music and vibes at next year's event!

More than just a one-day celebration, the Pride March serves as a reminder that visibility, inclusion, and allyship must be embedded in all areas of Youth Services and the wider Council. We remain committed to uplifting and supporting LGBTQIA+ young people every day.

A huge thank you to the young people who marched with us - your presence and passion made the day truly wonderful!
